Providing Direction for Positive Change

Being “Well-Rounded”

Many people I encounter each day focus their efforts on improving and overcoming their weaknesses. This practice is not only ineffective for sustaining personal and professional growth, but it's also boring and often very frustrating! Most of us were brought up to believe in the myth of being “well-rounded.” We were told that being “well-rounded” (being kinda good at many things) is the path toward success. We were taught to overcome our weaknesses by simply trying harder. We were encouraged to practice, practice, and practice until we got better. Did simply trying harder and practicing more result in improved performance? Not likely. I want to help you overcome your weaknesses, and improve your personal and professional performance, by embracing the paradigm of Strengths™ Performance Coaching.

The Paradigm Shift

Our strengths create a foundation for personal and professional success. Our strengths fuel our passions, and bring joy, fulfillment and sustainability to our lives. Despite what I just said, most of us have never focused on our strengths. Shifting our focus from weakness-fixing to strength-building is a journey worth taking. Together, we'll work through acceptance of this new paradigm. We will examine the success stories of others who have accepted the shift from weakness-fixing to strength-building resulting in tremendous gains in personal and professional performance. Then we'll move into a phase of application , where we embrace our talents, turn them into strengths, and make the most of our personal and professional lives. Each coaching session will include mutually-agreed upon “action steps” where you will learn to apply the knowledge you have gained about your individual talents. Lastly, the true leaders will discover the power of the accentuation phase where we inspire and influence others to embrace the paradigm shift from weakness-fixing to strength-building. This three-phase process has proven to create a profound impact on my clients' lives that is next to none. When my clients discover (some for the first time) what they are good at, when they understand their natural talents, and when they commit to growing and applying their strengths, I witness amazing growth in the critical areas of self-awareness and self-management.

Strengths™ Performance Coaching

I have been certified by Gallup as a Strengths™ Performance Coach. Through the use of the Clifton StrengthsFinder™ Assessment, we will work together to identify and confirm your talents and turn them into strengths by adding knowledge, skills and experience. I will also help you learn to manage and avoid your weaknesses. I will help you explore ways to flourish rather than simply function. Critical to the success of individual development is the identification of talent. The identification of your talents will lead to increased self-awareness and noticeable improvement which can be measured almost immediately. I am a West Point graduate with more than twenty years of experience focusing on the growth and development of others. My expertise in emotional intelligence has enhanced my ability to help increase the self-awareness and self-management of my clients, resulting in more than 50 successful coaching relationships during the last two years.

What is the Clifton StrengthsFinder™ Assessment?

The Clifton StrengthsFinder™ Assessment is a 180-question web-based assessment. It is scored from the perspective of positive psychology and has a test-retest reliability ranging from .60 to .80. StrengthsFinder™ is based on more than 30 years of study and has assessed the individual talents of more than 34 million people in more than 100 different occupational fields.
